TEMPLE

                                              LOTUS TEMPLE


The Lotus Temple, located in New Delhi, India, is a Bahai House of Worship.

The temple is in the village of Bahapur in Delhi.

The architect was an Iranian named Fariborz Sahba.  

The temple gives the impression of a half-open lotus flower afloat, surrounded by its leaves.

It is set among the lush green landscaped gardens.

The Bahai laws points that the spirit of the House of Worship to be that a gathering place where people of all religions may worship God.

House of Worship in New Delhi is made of 27 free-standing marble "petals" arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides.

Around the petals there are nine pools of water, which light up, in natural light.

The nine doors of the Lotus Temple is open to a central hall that is capable of holding up to 2,500 people.

Lotus Temple is open to all regardless of religion.

The Lotus Temple has won numerous architectural awards.
